Trip Description

Enjoy the vibrant scene and European-style city of Montreal on this premium tour. Montreal is the cultural capital of Quebec and the second largest city in Canada. It is a city rich in culture and history, has an inordinate number of attractive, fashionably dressed people, and a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest cities in North America. Its importance began as a shipping point on the St. Lawrence River for the luxurious goods of the Canadian wilderness to Europe. The old city remains well preserved and is one of the most popular spots to explore. The backdrop of Mont Royal provides a stunning visual sweep of the city, with its avenues of shops, stores, and justifiably famous restaurants. The city is alive with festivals throughout the year. Its unique French and English mix of cultures makes it one of the most fascinating cities in the world. Explore Quebec City on a full day shared tour. This picturesque city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its preserved old city evokes the days of voyageurs canoes loaded with furs on their way to the Old World. A city of charm, cuisine, and excellent art galleries.

With private airport pick up and drop off, you are looked after throughout your stay, with a balance of shared and private tours with some free time to see all of the sights that are of particular interest to you.

Itinerary

  • Quebec

Located in east-central Canada, Quebec is the only Canadian province with a predominantly French-speaking population and the only one whose sole official language is French at the provincial level. Quebec occupies a territory nearly three times the size of France or Texas, most of which is very sparsely populated.  More than 90% of Quebec's territory lies within the Canadian Shield, a rough, rocky terrain sculpted and scraped clean of soil by successive ice ages.

  • Montreal

Montreal is the cultural capital of Quebec and the second largest city in Canada. For over a century and a half, Montreal was the industrial and financial centre of Canada, leaving a legacy of architecture and wealth. It has a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest cities in North America, with an inordinate number of attractive, fashionably dressed people. Tourism is centered in Old Montreal's historic and quaint riverfront, downtown's shopping, and museums, and the Latin Quarter's restaurants, boutiques, cafes, and pubs. Summer brings a seemingly endless stream of festivals, celebrations, and musical events.

Enjoy a shared hour and a half walking tour of Montreal including lots of information on the history and architecture of the city, and many anecdotes revealing the secrets of Old Montreal, from yesterday to today! Day 2: Montreal

Enjoy a morning shared 3 hour sightseeing tour of Montreal taking in over 200 points of interest, including a photo stop at the Notre Dame Basilica, St. Joseph's Oratory, residential and financial districts, Old Montreal, French Quarter, outside view of Olympic Site, McGill University and a panoramic view from an observation point on top of Mt. Royal. Located between the river and downtown, Old Montreal (the historical part of the City) and its Old Port will put you into close contact with the past life of major metropolis of North America. Old Montreal has always been the center of the city and has preserved testimonies of all bygone eras. Enjoy the panoramic view of the old port before continuing on to the Notre-Dame Basilica - a masterpiece of Gothic Revival architecture. The magnificent interior décor captivates hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The tour then continues on to Olympic Park which was built for the 1976 Summer Olympics Games.

There are many optional activities to choose from in Montreal. Spend time wandering through the historical part of town, taking in all of the sights and smells along the way as you weave your way through the cobblestoned streets. Alternatively, head to St. Catherine's street, which has a dizzying array of shops to choose from and where you can see where the locals source their great sense of style. If you feel like a longer excursion, consider a day trip to Quebec - the oldest city in North America and a UNESCO designated city with a side trip to the impressive Montmorency falls. If you feel like staying within the city limits, consider a tour taking in the Olympic Tower, Biodrome, Botanical Gardens and Insectariums, a guided walking or a biking tour through the city, or a themed tour such as the Bourgeoisie area of Westmount or the lesser known parks and gardens of the city. Please let your Sales Advisor know if any of these options are of interest.

There will be some more free time in the Petit Champlain district before going to the "escalier Casse-Cou" - translated as "break neck staircase" not nearly as dangerous as its name implies.
