Itinerary

  • Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia is a Canadian province located on Canada's southeastern coast.  Its capital, Halifax, is the major economic centre of the region. Nova Scotia is the second-smallest province in Canada.  The province includes several regions of the Mi'kmaq nation of Mi'kma'ki(mi'gama'gi), which covered all of the Maritimes, as well as parts of Maine, Newfoundland and the Gaspé Peninsula. It was named after Scotland, and today people of Scottish descent are still the largest ethnic group in the province.

  • Halifax

Halifax is a city in Canada, which was the capital of the province of Nova Scotia. It was the largest city in Atlantic Canada until it was amalgamated into Halifax Regional Municipality in 1996. Halifax Harbour is among the largest natural harbours in the world, and settlement here by the British was originally planned with strategic military protection in mind. Local sights include Halifax Citadel, Pier 21 (Canada's Ellis Island), Maritime Museum, and a tidy collection of parks, shops and restaurants. The Waterfront in particular has a great variety of historic buildings, shops, restaurants, and other entertainment.

  • Western Shore

Western Shore is a mere 15 minutes drive from the town of Chester - which is rich in tradition and hospitality. The town is a historic seaside village noted for sailing, golf, stately summer homes, studios, galleries and relaxed lifestyle.

  • Wolfville

Wolfville is a small town located in the Annapolis Valley, in the Kings county of Nova Scotia.  This small town is 100 kilometer away from Halifax.  Wolfville is home to one of Canada's premier schools, Acadia University.

    Day 1: Halifax

You will be provided with a pre-departure package which will include all necessary information that you will need for your trip including materials such as vouchers, maps, train tickets (if relevant) etc.

Meet your driver for a private airport transfer with vehicle and driver.

Enjoy some time at leisure in Halifax and explore this beautiful harbourside city. There is lots to see and do - from art galleries and museums (including the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, home to an excellent exhibit of the Titanic, including a piece of the Master Staircase and the only intact deckchair in the world) to outdoor activities such as walking tours, hiking trails, sea kayaking, not to mention the golf courses. And there are just as many things to do in Halifax at night as during the day – from pubs and wine bars to dinner theatres, a casino, and of course, the maritime music the city is famous for.

    Accommodation: Delta Halifax

Located in the heart of downtown on the Link walkway system, the Delta Halifax offers comfortable accommodation by the waterfront. Rooms have either city or harbour views and the ‘Sanctuary’ beds ensures a good night's sleep. Relax in the health club which includes an indoor pool, saunas, whirlpool and climate control exercise room. Theonsite Crown Bistrot offers interesting culinary dishes and if you feel like wandering outside of the hotel for a bite to eat, there are plenty of great options. With easy access to Casino Nova Scotia and the World Trade and Convention Centre. Good times await you at the surrounding historic pubs filled with loud east coast music and fun-loving maritime atmosphere.

    • Fairview Lawn Cemetery Fairview Lawn Cemetery

    Day 2: Halifax

Enjoy a private four hour guided tour of the Halifax. Start at the historic Citadel Hill Fortress which overlooks the city. Look out into the ocean and imagine the tall ships, 150 strong coming into the glorious Halifax harbor. Visit the Halifax Public Gardens and the Fairview Lawn Cemetery where over 100 victims of the Titanic are buried.

This evening enjoy a harbour cruise on the Mar - a 75 foot wooden ketch and take in the excellent views of the Halifax Waterfront. Join the captain and crew aboard for a relaxing and beautiful sailing tour of the second largest natural harbour in the world and see where the wind takes you. Relax with a drink while the crew members offer you complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

Day 3: Halifax - Lunenburg - Western Shore

Includes car hire for the day.

Leave Halifax today and begin your journey along the Lighthouse to one of Nova Scotia’s most photographed locations, Peggy’s Cove. With its collection of weathered building and majestic lighthouse, this location is a photographers paradise. From Peggy’s Cove continue on to Lunenburg, an UNESCO World Heritage Site

This 'must-do' tour leaves from the waterfront, goes up to the top of beautiful Lunenburg and down again via a different route. You’ll weave your way back and forth through the streets so that the horses don't have to go up any of the steep hills.

The town of Lunenburg has more than three hundred historic homes dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The churches are very some of the oldest in North America. Lunenburg Academy, the famous "castle-on-the-hill" school, dates back to 1895 and the view from its location is absolutely breathtaking.

Your drivers' commentary will keep you on the edge of your seat with all sorts of historical and community information. But you’ll have the most fun hearing legends and special stories. Sometimes the horse even has a joke to tell! Your satisfaction is always guaranteed.

The tour is very laid back. It is not uncommon to meet some of the local folks along the way and, from time to time, they too will have a story to tell… and, of course, a treat for the horse! Approximately 2500 people live in town and, while visitors comment on how friendly the citizens are, they are jokingly told that it's just that they are lonely for someone to talk to!

Take to the seas as you board a private lobster fishing boat. Your captain will give you an insight into the industry and the lifestyle of a fisherman in these parts. Keep a lookout for seals and marine birds and be treated to some of Nova Scotia’s most picturesque coastline. Upon returning to the dock the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic is a short distance away which you may be interested in visiting. The museum houses a fine collection of memorabilia from the fishing industry’s past to present.

Take in the stunning coastal views as you drive from Lunenburg to Western Shore. The trip should take approximately 30 minutes.

Includes car hire for the day.

Begin your drive today to the Land of Evangeline in Nova Scotia’s famous Annapolis Valley. Your routing takes you across the province, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Bay of Fundy. Along the way, you may like to stop off at Hall’s Harbour. This quaint fishing village located on the Bay of Fundy provides an excellent backdrop to the spectacle of the highest tides in the world. At low tide you are able to see fishing boats tied to the dock, resting on dry land. A few hours later see them floating dockside. Halls Harbour is also home to local artisans and fresh lobster. From Halls Harbour, travel to Grand Pre to visit the Grand Pre National Historic Site.

Grand-Pré National Historic Site of Canada commemorates Grand-Pré area as a centre of Acadian settlement from 1682 to 1755 and the Deportation of the Acadians, which began in 1755 and continued until 1762. The site has an excellent interpretive centre; the church stands as a memorial to those who were deported, and a statue of Evangeline.
