Trip Description

On Oahu, the timeless, natural radiance of the islands meets the modern luxuries of today. Hike down a lush mountainside, feast at a luau under the stars one night then dine at a five-star restaurant another. Sunbathe all day on the North Shore, visit a pineapple plantation, and then dance all night in Waikiki. Take a cruise to see playful dolphins and, perhaps a whale to two. Kauai will enchant your senses like no other island; from the soaring cliffs of the Napali Coast to the vast chasms of Waimea Canyon. Snorkel with Sea Turtles, and explore the back roads with an expert guide - “The Island of Discovery,” begs to be discovered! In Maui, drive above the clouds. Watch a humpback whale breach the sea. Tee off at a championship golf course. Voted “Best Pacific Island,” by readers of Conde Nast Traveler, Maui does not disappoint. From the summit of Haleakala Crater to the shore of Big Beach in Makena, Maui has a breadth of exhilarating outdoor sights, activities, and entertainment for every visitor. With 24/7 support from Horizon & Co., you can relax in the assurance that everything will be looked after for you.

Itinerary

  • Hawaii

Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States of America. Situated nearly at the center of the north Pacific Ocean, Hawaii marks the northeast corner of Polynesia. While it was once a major hub for the whaling, sugar and pineapple industries, it is now economically dependent on tourism and the U.S. military. The natural beauty of the islands continues to be one of Hawaii's greatest assets. Honolulu is the state's capital, largest city, and cultural hub, located on the island of Oahu. Nearby Waikiki Beach is the most popular destination in the region. Maui and Kauai are smaller islands with gorgeous natural beauty, and a selection of tourist resorts. The Big Island of Hawaii is less developed.

  • Kailua

Kailua is a census-designated place in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States, in the North Kona District of the Island of Hawaii.  The population was 11,975 at the 2010 census. It is the center of commerce and of the tourist industry on West Hawaii. Its post office is designated Kailua-Kona to differentiate it from the larger Kailua located on windward Oahu, and it is sometimes referred to as "Kona" in everyday speech. The city is served by Kona International Airport, located just to the north in the adjacent Kalaoa CDP. Kailua-Kona was the closest major settlement to the epicenter of the 2006 Hawaii Earthquake.  The community was established by King Kamehameha I to be his seat of government (he was originally the chief of Kona before consolidating rule of the archipelago), and the capital of the newly unified Kingdom of Hawaii. (The capital was later moved to Lahaina, then, to Honolulu.) Royal fishponds at Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park were the hub of unified Hawaiian culture. The town then functioned as a retreat of the Hawaiian royal family. Up until the late 1900s, Kailua-Kona was primarily a small fishing village.  More recently, this region has undergone a real estate and construction boom fueled by tourism and investment.

  • Kauai

Kauai, the "Garden Isle," is home to several natural wonders, such as the Wailua River, Waimea Canyon, and the Na Pali Coast. Mount Waialeale is known as one of the rainiest spots in the world. Po`ipu, on the south side, is the major visitor destination for the island, with abundant sun and much resort development. Most of the major hotel/resort chains, such as Hyatt, Hilton, and Sheraton, have their main Kauai resorts in Po`ipu. Lihu`e, on the island's southeast side, is the civic and commercial center of the island, host to the island's main airport, county offices, and largest shopping mall (Kukui Grove Center). Kapa`a, on the east side, about a 20 minute drive north of Lihu`e, is the largest population center on the island. It anchors what is known as the Coconut Coast.

  • Oahu

Oahu known as "The Gathering Place", is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and most populous of the islands in the State of Hawaii. The city of Honolulu is the state's capital, largest city and main deepwater marine port. As a jurisdictional unit, the entire island of Oahu is in the City & County of Honolulu, although as a place name, Honolulu occupies only a portion of the southeast end of the island.

Well-known features found on Oahu include Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Hanauma, Kaneohe Bay, Kailua Bay & North Shore. The length of the shoreline is 227 miles or 365 kilometres and the highest point is Mt. Ka'ala in the Waianae Range, rising to 4,003 feet (1,220 m) above sea level. The island is home to about 950,000 people which is approximately 75% of the resident population of the state. Today, Oahu has become a tourism and shopping haven. Over five million visitors flock here every year to enjoy the quintessential island holiday experience.

  • Waikiki

Waikiki is a neighborhood of Honolulu, in the City and County of Honolulu, on the south shore of the island of Oahu, in Hawaii. Waikiki Beach is the shoreline fronting Waikiki.  Waikiki is home to public places including Kapiolani Park, Fort de Russy Military Reservation, Kahanamoku Lagoon, Kuhio Beach Park, and Ala Wai Harbor.  The neighborhood extends from the Ala Wai Canal (a channel dug to drain former wetlands) on the west and north, to Diamond Head (Leahi) on the east. Waikiki Beach is noted for its views of the Diamond Head tuff cone, its usually warm and cloud-free climate and its surf break. The Waikiki skyline is now dotted with an abundance of both high-rises and resort hotels. The beach is actually fairly short, with half of it marked off for surfers. For some distance into the ocean the water is quite shallow, although there are numerous rocks on the bottom. As with most ocean beaches the waves can have some force, particularly on windy days. The surf at Waikiki is known for its long rolling break, making it ideal for long boarding, tandem surfing and beginners.
