Nature's SplendorOur Nature's Splendor trips are about the perfect combination of calibrated luxury with natural beauty; about the intersection between unfettered wanderlust and orchestrated indulgence. The itineraries are based on the simple premise that communing with nature doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to put up with inedible food, undrinkable wine or sleeping on the ground.

Trip Description

Originally a hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur, Ranthambore was declared a game sanctuary in 1955. In 1980, it became a national park and was listed among the reserves protected under Project Tiger (1973). Ranthambore is probably the best place in the world to photograph the mighty and powerful tiger. Jeep Safaris are exciting options and the chances of spotting a big cat is better than anywhere else in India. There is a network of four travel tracks inside the park for safaris. Ruins within and around Ranthambore bear testimony to its royal past. There are lake palaces, old fortifications and the majestic Ranthambore fort at a height overlooking the park.

Prices shown are for the Tiger Den Resort (value option). For those in search of a more elegant stopover, the Oberoi Vanyavillas are also available.

Itinerary

  • India

India is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the west, and the Bay of Bengal on the east, India has a coastline of 7,517 kilometers (4,671 mi). Home to the Indus Valley Civilization and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four major world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated there, while Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and shaped the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by the British East India Company from the early eighteenth century and colonised by the United Kingdom from the mid-nineteenth century, India became a modern nation state in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by widespread nonviolent resistance. Tourism is typically centered in the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, including nearby Udaipur, Ranthambore, Khajuraho, and Varanasi. The southern province of Kerala, accessed from Kochi, is gaining in popularity for its houseboats, plantations, and temples of Madurai.
