Itinerary
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is the most visited nation in the Central American region, and is renowned for its rain forest reserves. While the country has only about 0.1% of the world's landmass, it contains 5% of the world's biodiversity. The most notable parks are; Corcovado National Park, Tortuguero National Park, and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The capitol of San Jose is well serviced with international flights. Most itineraries include time at one of the country's fine ocean beaches.
Arenal
Arenal contains an active volcano, and also the only dwarf cloudforest inCosta Rica. The crater of the volcano is 1.5km (1mi.) wide and contains a hot-water lake that changes color from turquoise to green to gray. It is also a whitewater rafting center with routes on the Rio Toro and Rio Sarapiqui.
Liberia
Liberia is a major city in Guanacaste, en route to some of the country's most beautiful beaches. The city offers similar features to its Guanecastan neighbors, including a modern-style church center facing a plaza circled by cozy local shops and restaurants. Liberia is home to a new attraction, the Africa Mia, which offers an African safari to tourists. Not far off from the city is also Rincon de Vieja Volcano National Park, where natural settings of volcano-enriched hot springs and waterfalls surround all who visit.
Punta Islita
Punta Islita is located on the Nicoya Peninsula of Guanacaste, an area recently classified as one of the four longest life expectancy regions in the world. Surrounded by tiny villages and towns, Hotel Punta Islita’s neighbors offer a glimpse of Costa Rican rural life and traditions. Convenient to both Liberia and San José international airports, reaching Hotel Punta Islita takes under 40 minutes by air, about four hours by land.
San José
San José was founded in 1737 and is a pleasant mixture of traditional and modern Spanish architecture. Places of interest include the Teatro Nacional, the Legislative Assembly building, and the Parque Central, east of which is the Cathedral. The National Museum and the Museum of Gold are also worth a visit.
